Effect of Sulpiride and Cimetidine on Gastric Secretion and Acute Gastric Mucosal Lesions in Rat

Abstract
The effect of sulpiride and cimetidine on gastric secretion and acute gastric mucosal lesions produced by topical aspirin(200 mg/kg) plus HCl(150 mM) in the pylorus ligated rats were studied.
In the low-dose sulpiride(l0 mg/kg) group, the pH of gastric juice was increased, and the titratable acidity of gastric juice was reduced.
In the high-dose sulpiride(50 mg/kg) group, the pH of gastric juice was increased, and the volume and the titratable acidity of gastric juice was reduced.
In the cimetidine group, the pH and the total protein of gastric juice was increased, and the volume and the titratable acidity of gastric juice was reduced.
Sulpiride and cimetidine protect aspirin plus HCl induced gastric mucosal lesions.
